It is heartbreaking to see the legends you grew up loving in a critical and unhealthy condition. Recently, veteran comedian Umer Sharif sent a video message to Prime Minister Imran Khan via a television talk show, requesting his attention and assistance as he requires urgent medical treatment.

“The doctor has told me that I need to go abroad to receive the best treatment,” he said on the ARY News talk show 11th Hour hosted by Waseem Badami.

“I helped in the making of Imran Khan’s Shaukat Khanum Cancer Hospital. I request Prime Minister Imran Khan to come to my support just like I have come to his whenever he has called me.”

Speaking to ARY, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Political Communication Shahbaz Gill announced the government would help facilitate his visas and travel abroad. He also added that the government would try to help pay for the surgery he needs.

Umer’s wife also made a request for prayers on his Facebook page and said the next 24 hours were very critical.

In a follow-up post, she explained that they have only asked the government to help facilitate travel and visas.

“We just wanted to clarify that Umer and his family didn’t ask for any financial assistance from government and any entity,” she clarified.

Following the update, many celebrities took to social media to pray for Umer Sharif’s health and speedy recovery. They also requested fans to do the same.
