Pakistani cinema has been struggling to survive due to the global pandemic in 2020. Releases have been delayed and movie theatres have been closed leading to huge losses for the film industry that had only started reviving a few years ago. Amid the chaos, the news of Pakistani film, Parwaaz Hai Junoon, releasing in China comes as a glimmer of hope.

“In an historic development for Pakistani films, Parwaaz Hai Junoon, starring Hamza Ali Abbasi, Hania Amir, and Ahad Raza Mir in lead roles is all set to release in China on November 13, 2020!” read an announcement on the film’s official Instagram account.

Produced under the banner of Momina & Duraid Films, PHJ has become the first Pakistani film in over 3 decades to be commercially released across China.

The film was earlier released in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia on 4th November, 2018. The premiere was attended by Hamza Ali Abbasi and Hania Aamir as well as the Ambassador of Pakistan in Saudi Arabia and Ambassador of Saudi Arabia in Pakistan.

Parwaaz Hai Junoon tells the story of Pakistan Air Force officers, outlining their lives, relationships, duty and hardships.
